With a U.S population of 340 million persons and GDP of $21 million; the 1 million tourism plan seeks to attain an average of 1 million tourists visiting Kenya annually, the first projection is set to be attained within 4 years;
2023-2027.

This plan will be facilitated by Tourism Product Development and Diversification; The Annual Sagalla Hills Marathon is one of the strategic products developed to advance the tourism plan.

The 1 million Tourism plan is an idea of the Diaspora Kenyans led by Madam Cathy Jacky under the umbrella of Diaspora University Town Project. The Diaspora network will be resourceful in marketing Kenya as the best tourist destination, and Taita Taveta County shall be the gateway to the enormous tourism products in Kenya. Diaspora University Town through the Tourism Department, is working to develop many products and document all tourist attractions in a more diversified way for tourism development.

Taita Taveta County is taking pride in hosting this idea for reasons that it has 60% of its Geographical space occupied by one of the prime homes of Wildlife in East and Central Africa; Tsavo East and West National Parks.
